Burgeon Beer Company (located at 6350 Yarrow Drive, Suite C, Carlsbad, CA) has officially opened! This spankin’ new brewery comes equipped with capacity for 133 people, 2 flat screen TVs, 14 draft taps and 2 nitro taps.  The tasting room is both kid and dog-friendly (though not for the grand opening) and has the relaxing vibe of an indoor beer garden, with a water fountain comprised of Burgeon kegs.  Burgeon, meaning to grow, represents everything this brewery is about.  Founders Anthony Tallman, Matthew Zirpolo and Derek Van Leeuwen all grew up together in North County San Diego and have been friends for a whopping 14 years!

Tallman, who has taken on the position as head brewer, comes with years of experience in commercial brewing working with the likes of Stone Brewing CompanyRough Draft Brewing, and Backstreet Brewing.  Zirpolo, the Director of Business Operations, brings years of
sales experience to the team, even getting Burgeon beer out on the market before their grand opening.  Van Leeuwen, the Director of Operations, has been Tallman’s homebrewing buddy for 8 years now, and currently assists in recipe development and brewing.  With a wide variety of beer styles from pale ales to barleywines, plans for a barrel aging program, and future collaborations in the books, there is going to be no shortage of delicious beer in the days to come.
