Gold Medal Winning Mosaic Session Ale Caps 64-Medal Winning Streak For Karl Strauss Brewing

Session Ale’s are all the rage right now with the local breweries. Within the last 6 months, it seems that any brewery worth its weight in ABV has or is producing a Session Ale. Granted, these require much more brewing skill than the high ABV beers that are so popular. And, for what it is worth, Karl Strauss’s Mosaic is the only Session Ale I have found myself coming back to for a second and third glass. It’s nice to see their press release, which we intercepted, featuring this beer.

San Diego, CA – July 2, 2014
Karl Strauss Brewing Company’s pioneering new beer release, Mosaic Session Ale, is batting a thousand in beer competitions. The unique single hop brew boldly features Mosaic hops and was born out of the company’s innovative small batch “Tank Tap” program. The beer won a Gold medal at the California State Fair Commercial Craft Brew Competition and a Bronze at the Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition. ”We are delighted Mosaic is being so well received in the market and in beer competitions,” says Paul Segura, Brewmaster, Karl Strauss Brewing Company. These medals for Mosaic take the company’s tally to 64 medals won in the last four years. This year alone, Karl Strauss has won ten awards across three state competitions—the San Diego International Beer Competition, Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition, and the California State Fair Commercial Craft Brew Competition. “We’ve been helping craft the San Diego beer scene for 25 years and it’s great to see our beers consistently recognized for top quality and consistency,” says Segura. With almost 1,000 entries per competition, winning at these competitions is no easy feat. “Competitions give us the chance to showcase our lineup of beers which span the full spectrum of beer styles,” says Segura. “People might know us for Red Trolley Ale or Tower 10 IPA, but we’re constantly brewing up new award winning beers like Mosaic and our barrel-aged Wreck Alley.” In addition to beer competition medals, the company was recently honored with the Gold Medallion award for “Best Brewery” by the California Restaurant Association, San Diego Chapter.
