Gold in all its glory

Gold in all its glory

Searching for the next great IPA and barrel aged beer is fun, but what if you’re looking to relax with an “all day” kind of beer? Look no further than to Temecula’s Garage Brewing Golden Helles Lager. Also know as the “Bucket Seat Blonde” this Great American Beer Festival winner took the Gold Medal this past Fall. This Munich-Style Helles Lager is similar to what big commercial beer brands offer, but is packed with much more flavor. This is the domestic-style beer done the craft way. Here are a few words you’ll find on the side of the bottle from Garage Brewing.

“We believe in making our fresh craft beer from only the finest ingredients. And guess what? It’s really food. Pronounced “hell-us”, this is a beer for people who think they don’t like craft beer. Munich Helles lager: an elegant beer style that is flavorful and refreshing.”

Golden Helles Lager AKA "Bucket Seat Blonde"

Golden Helles Lager AKA “Bucket Seat Blonde”

Appearance: Clear pale yellow with slight gold tints.

Aroma: Light lemon aroma and subtle zest throughout. Slight wheat and wonder bread smells. Pilsner malt smells very present throughout.

Flavor: Malt forward – very light flavors of bread and faint sweetness, this might be from the pilsner malt. Moderate grainy-sweetness with very low spicy hop flavor. The sweetness is not a sugary one, but a bready/malty one.

Mouthfeel: This light bodied beer hits you with big clean waves rinsing your mouth and giving a refreshing sensation. Almost feels as if you’re being hydrated while ending on a nice clean crisp finish.

Overall: It’s easy to see why this beer took gold, it’s light and easy drinking factor will have you reaching back for more. This is the perfect beer to stick with throughout the day. It’s packed full of nice light pale malt flavors, but won’t have you stumbling after having a few the way an IPA or Stout would. This is the tailgate, backyard, and BBQ kind of brew that will quench your thirst and satisfy your taste buds. Garage Brewing beers can be found at local bottle shops and liquor stores. If you truly want to try it at its freshest, take the short drive up the 15 and pay them a visit.
