Started by two brother-in-laws, Firestone Walker began brewing back in 1996. The Paso Robles based brewery has since increased their production to over 150,000 barrels yearly and has also recently started canning!  Be sure to also check out their Union Jack IPA, voted the 2006 “Best Beer in America” by Mens Journal!

20160613_181502 Appearance: Pours an opaque black with a fluffy brown head that leaves a decent amount of lacing as you enjoy

Aroma: Very strong presents of hops and rye with a hint of sweet caramel

Taste: Very mild taste for the high ABV level. Hops and rye are present upfront with a bit of bitterness that transitions to a more mild sweet taste. Dry hops go very well with the malted rye for a very balanced brew

Mouthfeel: Mild to medium level of carbonation that suits the flavor well. Small amount of bitterness left on the palate after you drink. Very drinkable

Overall: Wookey Jack brings a great combination of dry hops and malted rye. Just the right amount of bitterness that transitions to a more smooth caramel aftertaste. Appeals to both stout lovers and IPA drinkers alike. Defiantly worth a try!

PR / Marketing Intern

I am a sports fanatic, music lover, outdoor enthusiast and beer advocate born and raised in sunny San Diego, CA. While I am not out exploring San Diego’s craft beer scene, I can be found hanging out at the beach with friends or attending southern California’s many live music events. My passion for craft beer was inherited from my father while home brewing together in their garage. I continued to share his passion for craft beer with friends while attending college in Los Angeles, where I was able to explore the craft beer scene outside of San Diego. In the future, I hope to be involved in Marketing/ Event Planning for the craft beer industry so I can spread my love and passion for beer with the larger San Diego community. I am an avid sports fan and can be seen sharing a pint with other aliens at local Padre and Charger games!
