Here comes an awesome brew from Los Angeles!
“El Segundo was founded over a love of hops and a desire to brew beer as delicious as what was being done down in San Diego… because we just couldn’t find it close enough to home.”
Brewing since 2010, EL Segundo has been producing hoppy beers with their specialty being a variety of unique styled single and double IPA’s. Now producing over 400 barrels a month, El Segundo is worth checking out for those hop lovers out there!
Appearance: The Citra Pale Ale pours a golden amber color with almost no head present
Aroma: Very strong presents of hops paired with tones of citrus and malt. Much more to experience here than a traditional Pale Ale
Taste: As must be implied from the aroma, this brew comes packed with strong hoppy flavors. The Citra starts out with a moderate amount of bitterness from dry hopped Citra mixed with citrus flavors and a smooth malty finish. Not your traditional pale but refreshing none the less
Mouthfeel: As stated above this brew starts with a strong kick of hops and then transitions into a malty smooth finish. The carbonation level is medium to moderate which suites is well and enhances the drinkability
Overall: Don’t go into this beer thinking you will be getting a traditional Pale Ale experience. With that in mind the Citra is a very well balanced beer that will appeal to hop lovers. Great dry hopped flavor on the front end that is well balanced by the presence of citrus fruit and a smooth refreshing backend of malt that will appeal to those who are looking for more of a traditional pale. Definitely worth a try and would pair great with a summertime BBQ or a trip to the beach. Don’t let the dry hops scare you, they are definitely present but nothing too overpowering. Cheers!
