Well instead of counting down the days till Christmas by popping a chocolate out of your advent calendar every night, pop open some of the best holiday brews to help get you in the spirit!

Day 1: Christmas Ale by Anchor Brewing 

  • Style:Winter Warmer
  • ABV: 5.5%
  • Anchor Brewing’s 41st annual Christmas Ale. Every holiday season, Anchor comes up with a new recipe and a new tree to put on their bottle. This year’s ale offers an assortment of holiday spices like clove and cinnamon with a faint earthiness and creamy mouthfeel. 

Day 2: Fistmas by Revolution Brewing Co.

  • Style: Red Ale
  • ABV: 6.1% 
  • Deep red in color with a complex blend of stone fruits, ginger and orange peel. Caramel and fresh baked bread notes also contribute to this unique beer. 

Day 3: Winter White Ale by Bell’s Brewing, Inc.

  • Style: Witbier
  • ABV: 5% 
  • Cloudy, golden wheat beer with orange, banana and clove notes. Fruitiness and light spice lead to a refreshing holiday beer. 

Day 4: He’Brew Hanukkah Chanukkah: Pass the Beer by Shmaltz Brewing Co.

  • Style: Dark Ale
  • ABV: 8%        
  • Well balanced hop and malt goodness with no addition of spice. Sweet malt flavors of caramel, toffee, molasses and nuts. Slight alcohol and hop bitterness in the finish. 

Day 5: Corsendonk Christmas Ale by Brouwerij Corsendonk

  • Style: Belgian Strong Dark Ale
  • ABV: 8.5%  
  • Delivers a very fruity aroma of figs, blackberries, and plums. Thick malted, with a dark fruit sweetness and slight chocolate and brown sugar flavors. Very complex yet balanced beer. *One of our favorites:)

  • Style: Fruit/Vegetable Beer
  • ABV: 6.5%  
  • Tart raspberry aroma, slight jam sweetness with notes of toasted caramel and floral hops. 

Day 7: Winter Solstice by Anderson Valley Brewing Co.

  • Style: Winter Warmer
  • ABV: 6.9%          
  • Sweet maltiness in aroma and flavor with notes of caramel, cream and vanilla bean. Medium to heavy bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. 

Day 8: 8 Maids-a-Milking by The Bruery

  • Style: Milk Stout
  • ABV: 11.3%
  • 8th Beer out of 12 in the Bruery’s seasonal release line-up, ending in 2019. Sweet and creamy with roasted notes of milk chocolate.

Day 9: Snowcap by Pyramid Breweries, Inc.

  • Style: Winter Warmer
  • ABV: 7%   
  • Flavors of rich chocolate, and caramel sweetness balanced with an abundance of pine and earthy notes from hops.

Day 10: Fireside Chat by 21st Amendment

  • Style: Winter Warmer
  • ABV: 7.9%        
  • A cinnamon hop taste with a bready maltiness and notes of hazelnut, brown sugar, and ginger. Medium bodied, with a dry finish. Very drinkable.  

Day 11: Schlafly Christmas Ale by Schlafly Tap Room

  • Style: Herbed/Spiced Beer
  • ABV: 8% 
  • Bountiful holiday spices, honey, and caramel maltiness give this beer a strong gingerbread flavor. Orange peel, juniper berries, ginger root, cardamom and cloves also contribute to the sweetness and spiciness of this brew.

  • Style: Belgian Quad
  • ABV: 10% 
  • Dark roasted malts, dark candy sugar, cardamom, allspice  and clove give this Belgian Quadruple a sweeter, holiday twist that remains clean and not too boozy.     

Day 13: Celebration Ale by Sierra Nevada Brewing

  • Style: American IPA
  • ABV: 6.8%
  • Congratulations! You’ve made it over halfway on your journey through holiday beers. Time to celebrate with a Celebration Ale, this malt forward IPA provides balanced notes of pine and citrus that will keep your spirits up! 

Day 14: Merry Taj IPA by Lost Abbey

  • Style: IPA
  • ABV: 8%  
  • An extra-hoppy holiday IPA, featuring 5 different hop varieties (Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo, Cascade and Simcoe). A sweet bready maltiness balanced with a slight grapefruit and resinous taste.

Day 15: Old Jubilation by Avery Brewing Co.

  • Style: Old Ale
  • ABV: 8.3%
  • Malt forward strong ale with notes of hazelnuts, mocha, and toffee. Light hop bite, and a sweet nutty, dry finish.

Day 16: Raison D’Etre by Dogfish Head Brewery

  • Style: Belgian Strong Dark Ale
  • ABV: 8%
  • Decadent ale brewed with beet sugar and raisons. Dark fruit notes with a wine sweetness and biscuity maltiness.

Day 17: Cerise Nouveau by Cascade Brewing

  • Style: American Wild Ale
  • ABV: 8.12%
  • Wonderfully sour cherry, with a slight tart acidity,. Earthy notes with a touch of vanilla and oak.

Day 18: Parrot in a Palm Tree by Karl Strauss Brewing Co.

  • Style: Baltic Porter
    ABV: 8.5%
  • Deep rich flavor with notes of dark fruit, espresso and chocolate with a smokey oak finish.

Day 19: Sweetwater Festive Ale by Sweetwater Brewing Co.

  • Style: Winter warmer
  • ABV: 8.1%
  • Rich and robust with an aroma of molasses, a strong chocolately sweetness with a subtle cinnamon spice finish.

Day 20: Brown Shugga’ by Lagunitas Brewing Co.

  • Style: American Strong Ale
  • ABV: 9.99%
  • “Dangerously Slammable” This very sweet holiday release is full of brown sugar, caramel, and toffee with a good combination of hops.

Day 21: 12 Dogs of Christmas Ale by Thirsty Dog Brewing Co.

  • Style: Winter Warmer
  • ABV: 8.3%
  • Tastes of sweet honey, toasted malts, and the best of holiday spices…cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. Like Christmas in a cup!

Day 22: Santa’s Private Reserve by Rogue Ales

  • Style: Red Ale
  • ABV: 5%
  • A double hopped Red Ale, dominating pine/spruce flavor, slight grapefruit, ending with a dry, slight spice finish.

Day 23: Jubelale by Deschutes Brewing                                                                

  • Style: Winter Warmer
  • ABV: 6.7%
  • Warm spiciness, notes of dried fruit, and toffee. Initial malty caramel sweetness followed by a slight hop bitterness that lingers in the finish.

Day 24: Adoration Ale by Ommegang Brewing

  • Style: Belgian Strong Dark Ale
  • ABV: 10%
  • Boldly spiced with coriander, orange peel, mace, cardamom and grains of paradise balanced with generous amounts of malts to make this the perfect brew to enjoy fireside.

Day 25: Santa’s Little Helper by Port Brewing

  • Style: Imperial Stout
  • ABV: 10%
  • You’ve made it through all 24 days of December, with a delicious holiday beer in hand! (We hope) Have a Merry Christmas with Santa’s Little Helper by your side. Cocoa, multi-grain bread notes and herbal, citrus hops come together to produce a velvety stout that’s not worth missing. 

We hope these beers were accompanied by quality time with friends and loved ones, holiday soirees, and maybe even helped smooth the rougher edges of family gatherings 🙂
