saint-archer-brewing-logo-squareSaint Archer IPA puts itself on display with a thick, foamy head and clear golden color. There is a distinct malt and hop aroma, with hints of pine.

The taste is an immediate punch of tangy hops, heavy on the citrus. This slowly blends into a nice comfortable lemony pine flavor. Bitterness is aggressive towards the end, but where I would expect bite, seems to be polished over with a slight oaky malt flavor.

Saint Archer’s approach to the IPA is solid and friendly, though not particularly different. The medium/high bitterness will not scare away anyone, but still satisfy hopheads. The somewhat disguised oaky notes are a nice touch, but not really enough to set this IPA apart from the standard. Again this isn’t a bad thing, Saint Archer IPA is successfully representing and executing the core values of an IPA.
