Its time to celebrate humans! Sierra Nevada’s Beer Camp is here!! For those of you who are uninitiated, Beer Camp is a limited release 12 pack that showcases 6 different collaboration brews from every corner of the U.S. Each unique beer represents a different region and a distinct style! This year 31 breweries teamed up and created extremely delicious brews for your enjoyment. Pick up yours before they are all gone!

The Pat-Rye-Ot Pale Ale hails from the Northeast and is meant to be a new take on the traditional pale ale brewed in the original 13 colonies. A collaboration between Devils Backbone Brewing, Dogfish Head Craft Brewing, Lawson’s Finest Liquids, Stoudt’s Brewing, Trillium Brewing, and Sierra Nevada, the Pat-Rye-Ot is crafted with rye and apples along with strong hopes that creates a unique flavor and crisp finish!

detail-image_hDmxRGBAppearance: The Pat-Rye-Ot Pale Ale pours a deep golden color with the carbonation bubbles visibly seen floating to the top. Small white head and leaves some lacing as you enjoy.

Aroma: Strong presence of hops and rye in the aroma, subtle sweetness from the apples. Stronger than a traditional pale.

Taste: The brew starts out with a biter kick of hops that transitions into a rye flavor combined well with a mild presence of apple. Some toasted malt is there but the hops and rye flavors are the main attraction, not too much rye flavoring as to spoil the great hoppy taste. Clean finish.

Mouthfeel: Bitter hops at first that transitions to rye, malt and a bit of sweetness. Medium to moderate carbonation and a mild hop aftertaste.

Overall: We think this is a great take on a traditional beer. If you are looking for a mild pale ale you might want to look else ware due to the decent amount of hops and rye, but if your in the mood to switch is up a bit this is a great beer. Not so much hops that you feel like your drinking an IPA, and a good mixture of rye and apple to give your taste buds something new. Very refreshing and will go great with a BBQ or baseball. Cheers!

PR / Marketing Intern

I am a sports fanatic, music lover, outdoor enthusiast and beer advocate born and raised in sunny San Diego, CA. While I am not out exploring San Diego’s craft beer scene, I can be found hanging out at the beach with friends or attending southern California’s many live music events. My passion for craft beer was inherited from my father while home brewing together in their garage. I continued to share his passion for craft beer with friends while attending college in Los Angeles, where I was able to explore the craft beer scene outside of San Diego. In the future, I hope to be involved in Marketing/ Event Planning for the craft beer industry so I can spread my love and passion for beer with the larger San Diego community. I am an avid sports fan and can be seen sharing a pint with other aliens at local Padre and Charger games!
