Beer Alien had the privilege of exploring American beer history by getting to visit the oldest licensed tavern in the United States. Broad Axe Tavern has been a licensed tavern since 1681 which impressed us aliens a lot. The tavern has been expanded on since it was first opened, but the original structure is incorporated into the current building. We visited on a weeknight so the place was pretty empty but we can only imagine how busy this wonderful place must get on weekends.

Super attentive and friendly human staff greeted us as we walked in the door and we were very happy when we saw the multi-page beer menu. The beer menu was divided up into sections by style and covered most types of beer. They had a good selection of dubbels and tripels which pleased our alien taste receptors. While there were no ultra rare beers, the selection was so varied that you could definitely find beers to suit your every mood.

We then ordered some human food to see how The Broad Axe Tavern did with meals. Again we were impressed. The food was delicious and portions were large. Our attentive human server frequently checked on us to make sure we were happy aliens. The high level of service and the incredible variety of beer choices have made The Broad Axe Tavern a favorite with the Beer Alien crew and we will definitely be visiting again.

Be sure to follow us on Social Media as we invade more breweries and discover more awesome craft beers from all over the world! Cheers humans!
