Baron’s Backroom Beer Pairing for St. Patty’s March 16th!

Looking for a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year? San Diego’s Baron’s Market, a family-run grocery store that sells some awesome food for great prices, is hosting another one of their Backroom Beer Pairing events at all of their San Diego locations, and this one is St. Patty’s themed! We’ve been to this event once before, and this is no small gig. They actually transform their loading docks and stock rooms into speakeasies for people to gather and enjoy their food creations paired with beer from a local San Diego brewery.

Baron’s uses their own selection of all-natural ingredients to whip up some amazing appetizers and sweets to enjoy alongside carefully selected San Diego craft beers. This time they are partnering up with one of our all-time favorites, Modern Times Brewery! We were lucky enough to get invited to their tasting seminar to help in the decision-making process for which beer would be paired with what, and we have to say, this menu is to die for!

Here’s a sneak peak, plus photos from our tasting:

The menu includes:

  • A refreshing, fruity beer to welcome guests
  • Smoked salmon pizza paired with Lomaland: a bright, rustic saison
  • Dubliner grilled cheese with mango chutney paired with Fortunate Islands: a hoppy, citrusy wheat beer
  • Ruben cupcakes paired with Blazing World: a hoppy, dank amber ale
  • Chocolate stout cake paired with the option of Black House coffee: a roasty stout, or City of the Dead: a full-bodied, chocolate coffee stout.

This food and beer celebration not only tastes good, but does good. Barons Market will donate 100% of proceeds from its three San Diego locations to the San Diego Food Bank.

“When people feel down on their luck, food always lifts spirits and provides a bit of comfort,” says Rachel Shemirani, vice president of marketing for Barons Market. “The real treat of these tastings isn’t the food – it’s bringing neighbors together to raise money for deserving organizations in our community.”

So grab your green and head to one of Barons Market’s San Diego locations from 6 – 8 p.m. on March 16th. Space is limited, so purchase $15 tickets today for a food and beer match-up that will knock your green socks off!
