At the fair: Abnormal Beer Company is the only microbrewery serving a beer exclusively brewed for the fair. Enjoy a pint of Steampunk Ale all 26 days of the fair on-site at 17 Hands Restaurant and Cantina and the Ballast Point Bar near the Exhibit Hall. This beer will also be poured at the Steampunk Ale Pavilion at the San Diego International Beer Festival taking place June 17-19 at the Del Mar Arena.
This year’s fair fuses the classic Lewis Carroll novel, Alice in Wonderland, with Steampunk era and old world machinery themes, including this 19th century style beer. This beer’s authentically true to form technique recaptures the original brewing methods of the steam-powered industrial age, using warmer rather than cooler temperatures to brew this lager.
Since the first pint was poured in April 2015, Abnormal Beer Company’s beers explore bold flavors and new techniques with an emphasis on drinkability. San Diego-based Abnormal Beer Co.’s tasting room and brewing facility, located in Rancho Bernardo, has 41 taps featuring house made and guest beers. Abnormal Beer Co. is constantly brewing seasonal and limited releases, collaboration beers and the most popular brews – Mostra Mocha Stout, 5PM Session and a rotating house IPA. After only six months of brewing, the brewery was given a $1 million investment to expand the brewing facility. The future holds a 550% increase in production, meaning more Abnormal beer in your favorite local beer spots.
Abnormal Beer Co.’s facility is part of San Diego’s first craft brewery, urban winery and restaurant, The Cork & Craft, all under one roof. In their commitment to better the environment through sustainable practices, Abnormal partners with local farms for grain disposal used in agriculture. To learn more, visit http://abnormalbeer.co/.
